2. Meniere’s Disease

Meniere’s disease is another disorder of the inner ear. What actually causes it is not clear, but it appears to be a result of an abnormal build-up of fluid called endolymph in the inner ear. It usually affects only one ear, but may result in hearing loss that may come and go or eventually become permanent.

Meniere’s disease is considered to be a chronic condition, but its symptoms can be managed. One of these symptoms is vertigo, a spinning sensation that occurs without warning and may last anywhere from about 20 minutes to several hours.
