7. Something Sour: Vinegar Or Lemon

Reliable Remodeler

According to a case report in 2015, sour compounds may relieve persistent hiccups. If you could stand the sourness, this just might work for you. You could try a lemon or vinegar for this method. If you have a lemon on hand, take wedge or slice, and chew or suck on it. It would be even better if you could add a few drops of bitters on the lemon, or soak the wedge or slice in it. This is colloquially known as the bartender’s hiccup cure. You may sprinkle a little sugar on it to make the taste more bearable.

But if you don’t have any lemon in the house, you could try using vinegar instead. All you have to do is to place a drop or a teaspoonful of vinegar on your tongue. Just remember that if you’ll be using apple cider vinegar, you have to dilute it first in water. Due to its acidity, apple cider vinegar may irritate and even cause damage to your esophagus and stomach.
