Like alcohol, sleeping pills and sedatives can cause excessive relaxation of the tissues in your throat. This in turn can disrupt your breathing when you are asleep, causing you to snore. If you already have a snoring problem, try to avoid medications such as these as much as possible. If you are prescribed sedatives by your doctor, let him or her know about your issues with snoring. Falling into a deeper level of sleep can make your problem worse.
